About six months after several major pharmacies pulled Zantac and its generic equivalents off their shelves, citing a potentially harmful contaminant in the heartburn medication, federal regulators are throwing their weight behind the drug's removal from the market. Just days after Congress approved a record $2.2 trillion in emergency economic aid to offset the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the Trump administration is racing to get the money out to hundreds of millions of Americans and millions of businesses reeling from the crisis.

Feds charge Georgia man with orchestrating COVID-19 billing fraud scheme

Federal prosecutors have charged a Georgia man for allegedly conspiring to defraud Medicare and private healthcare benefit programs by submitting fraudulent claims for COVID-19 testing and genetic cancer screenings, according to the Department of Justice.

Erik Santos was arrested March 30 and charged with one count of conspiring to violate the Anti-Kickback Statute and one count of conspiring to commit healthcare fraud.  read more »
