Michigan Home Health Agency Owner Sentenced to Prison for $8.3 Million Medicare Fraud

A Michigan home health agency owner was sentenced to 84 months in prison today for his role in an $8.3 million scheme to defraud Medicare.

Zahir Shah, 49, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn of the Eastern District of Michigan, who also ordered Shah to pay $ 8,339,790.28 in restitution.  In May 2018, Shah pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to pay and receive health care kickbacks. read more »
