Superintendent at Iowa care center fired amid allegations of human experiments at facility

The top official at a state-run institution that provides care to people with severe intellectual disabilities has been fired amid allegations of uncontrolled human subject experimentation at the facility.
Federal investigators are looking into whether Glenwood patients were subjects of an alleged "Sexual Arousal Study." The scope of that study, according to a Dec. 2 letter by DOJ investigators, may relate to "identifying antecedents, triggers, or causes of sexual arousal, measuring state of sexual arousal, or suppressing sexual arousal." read more »
Md. pediatrician, convicted of sex abuse, indicted on 98 more counts

A Frederick pediatrician who is currently serving a year sentence for the sexual abuse of an 18-year-old patient has been indicted on 98 more counts of sex abuse stemming from 19 more alleged victims.
Ernesto Torres, 69, received credit for time served after spending months in home detention and had his time in jail reduced to four and a half months. A pre-trial conference on the new charges is scheduled for January 24. read more »
