The American sexual abuse scandal that could have lessons for China
When news of a sexual abuse scandal at the University of Southern California broke last year, Tracy Wen Liu knew she had to say something.
Liu, who did a master’s degree in entrepreneurship at USC and is now a freelance writer based in Texas, knew several victims of the man at the centre of the allegations, the university’s former gynaecologist George Tyndall.
Like Liu, the women were international students from China and had consulted Tyndall on a professional basis.
As women began coming forward to say they were sexually harassed and in many cases left psychologically scarred, Liu’s response was to interview some of them for an award-winning report in a leading Chinese online news outlet. read more »
FBI expands Epstein probe; hopes to snare more Prince Andrew accusers
The FBI is now probing any “connection” Britain’s Prince Andrew may have with the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal, according to a stunning new report on Saturday.
The agency is expanding its investigation into the late financier in order to identify more of the convicted pedophile’s victims, who may provide more details about the royal’s alleged involvement, the Sunday Times of London reported.
“The US investigation is focusing on several potential victims in the hope that they can provide more details about Prince Andrew and his connection to the Epstein case,” sources from the US Department of Justice told the outlet. “They are not going to dismiss it [claims relating to Andrew] because he is a royal.” read more »
