NYPD officer suspended and jailed after child porn arrest

A New York City police officer arrested Thursday on a child pornography charge used social media to send sexually explicit messages to dozens of minors, persuading some of them to send him nude pictures, asking for phone sex and sometimes encouraging self-harm, federal prosecutors said.
Officer Carmine Simpson chatted with at least 46 minors via Twitter since last April, prosecutors said, collecting 18 photos and 33 videos of children he instructed to act in a sexually suggestive manner, along with dozens of other images used for sexual arousal. read more »
T.I. And Tiny Accused of Sex Trafficking

Hip-hop stars T.I. and Tiny are facing allegations of sex trafficking. Over 15 women have come forward accusing the couple of coercing them into compromising sexual situations involving drugs and money. Sabrina Peterson, a former friend of the Harris family who accused T.I. of assault, has compiled a series of messages she received from the alleged abuse victims on Instagram.
One anonymous woman detailed an incident that took place during CIAA in Charlotte in 2016. She claims she went to T.I. and Tiny’s hotel suite at the Ritz-Carlton and her phone was confiscated and molly and cocaine were handed out. Only the people who removed their pants were told to stay. read more »
Former Boy Scouts Chaplain Is Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Sexual Abuse

A former chaplain for the Boy Scouts in Rhode Island was sentenced on Thursday to 40 years in prison after pleading no contest to charges that he sexually assaulted six young men, the authorities said — the latest reckoning for a national scouting movement beleaguered by sex-abuse claims.
Investigators said that James Glawson, 76, came to their attention in 2019 when staff members at a Rhode Island group home reported that he had had inappropriate contact with an 18-year-old developmentally disabled resident. Glawson later admitted abusing the resident and several other young men during the 1980s while he was a scout leader. read more »
Dershowitz Loses Bid To DQ Cooper & Kirk In Defamation Suit
LAW 360
A New York federal judge on Thursday declined to disqualify a team of Cooper & Kirk PLLC attorneys representing a woman in her defamation suit against Alan Dershowitz, rejecting the Harvard Law School professor's disqualification bid as an attempt to make it easier for him to access certain confidential materials.
Dershowitz had argued that the lawyers for Virginia L. Giuffre — who has accused Dershowitz of defaming her after she alleged billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had "lent her out for sex" to the prominent lawyer — should be removed from the case for previously having accessed a "trove" of testimony and documents from a related dispute that he isn't permitted to access. Dershowitz's access to most of that evidence was denied because of a protective order in that case, which Giuffre brought against Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell. read more »
