Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro Selected as one of the Hottest Plaintiffs' Firms in the Country for Fourth Time
For the second consecutive year and the fourth time since 2006, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP (HBSS), a national class action and complex litigation firm, has earned a spot on the National Law Journal's (NLJ) prestigious "Plaintiff's Hot List," an award given to the top plaintiff law firms in the country that demonstrate impressive verdicts and settlements, and those firms taking on cases of significant public importance.
Among the cases cited by the NLJ was HBSS's work in a securities class-action lawsuit against Charles Schwab & Co. alleging the large investment firm had invested in overly risky mortgage-backed securities. HBSS served as lead counsel in the case and secured a $235 million settlement in July on behalf of the class.
HBSS was also lauded for its continued work in the pharmaceutical industry. In June, HBSS and co-counsel secured a $103 million settlement in an average wholesale price class action against drug maker AstraZeneca PLC. The publication also cited the firm's $142 million jury verdict against Pfizer Inc. for the off-label marketing of Neurontin.
"I am very proud that the National Law Journal recognizes the importance of the work our team does at HBSS," said managing partner Steve Berman. "The fact that we've been included in the list two years running and four times since 2006 is a testament to the commitment and hard work of a very talented group of men and women in our seven offices across the country."
The National Law Journal publishes its Plaintiffs' Hot List annually. This year's list appeared on Oct. 4.
