More than half of VW, Audi and Skoda owners who had their cars “fixed” following the “diesel-gate” emissions scandal have subsequently suffered poor performance and worse fuel consumption, according to a legal firm behind a class action against VW.
VW has recalled 1.2m cars in the UK after it was caught cheating emissions tests two years ago, but growing numbers of owners are refusing to have the free work done because of the alleged post-fix problems. read more »
2.7 million more Takata airbag inflators recalled after new findings
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says ongoing testing of Takata-made airbags will force an additional 2.7 million airbag inflators to be recalled. The inflators in question were supplied to Ford, Mazda and Nissan vehicles spanning 2005 through 2012 model years, including some 627,000 Nissan Versa vehicles from 2007-12 model years. NHTSA did not indicate which Ford vehicles will be recalled, though Mazda's share of the recall may be as low as 6,000 B-series trucks.
