GM asks top U.S. court to reverse ignition switch claims ruling

General Motors Co on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn an appellate court's ruling that the automaker's 2009 bankruptcy does not shield it from lawsuits over a faulty ignition switch linked to 124 deaths and 275 injuries.

The petition marked a last-ditch effort by GM to block hundreds of customer lawsuits over faulty ignition switches, and other vehicles components, on grounds that they were barred by the automaker's 2009 bankruptcy sale to a new corporate entity. read more »

 

 

Volkswagen's bestselling Audi under microscope after EU emissions tests

Audi's top-selling model released excessive toxic diesel emissions in results from lab tests run by the European Commission and seen by Reuters, raising suspicions of wrongdoing at Volkswagen's  luxury division.

The results threaten to embroil Audi, the main contributor to VW group profit, in the scandal that has engulfed the company since it admitted cheating U.S. emissions tests with software to mask nitrogen oxides (NOx). read more »

The McLaren P1, every Tesla Model S and even some Ferraris are now included in the massive recall for faulty Takata airbags.
