EU ordered to strengthen car emissions tests in 'landmark' court ruling

General Court of the EU orders reversal to decision that allowed carmakers to exceed emissions limits by up to 110 per cent during on-road tests

The European Commission has been ordered to strengthen air pollution test limits for new cars after a successful legal challenge to emissions the current rules brought by the cities of Brussels, Madrid, and Paris.

Toyota recalls nearly 143,000 SUVs and pickups worldwide

Toyota Motor Corp. issued two separate safety recalls that affect about 143,000 Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 vehicles worldwide.

In the first recall, Toyota said in a statement Thursday that the Land Cruiser and LX 570 are susceptible to a seat-belt tension sensor malfunction that could deactivate the passenger front, knee and side airbags. read more »
