Hagens Berman Investigating Sales of Fraudulent Supplements from Walmart, Walgreens, Target and GNC
SEATTLE – Over-the-counter supplements from some of the country’s largest retailers have been found to contain no traces of purported healthful ingredients listed on the supplements’ labels, including products from GNC, Target, Walgreens and Walmart, according to attorneys at Hagens Berman. The national consumer-rights law firm is investigating national sales of supplements from these retailers and seeks information from consumers who purchased supplements.
“We see this as outright fraud, plain and simple,” said Steve Berman, managing partner at Hagens Berman. “You don’t buy a gallon of milk expecting to receive water, but consumers have purchased these supplements – which often don’t come cheap – expecting to receive what’s listed on the label. For these retailers to sell them anything but what’s listed, is simply wrong.”
Concerned consumers who purchased any of the following products may contact Hagens Berman by emailing [email protected] or by calling 206-623-7292. Additional information about the investigation is available at /cases/supplements-from-walmart-walgreens-target-and-gnc.
According to a recent study, the following supplements were found to contain either no trace of the following ingredients or very little trace amount:
GNC: Herbal Plus brand
Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ginseng, Echinacea, Saw Palmetto
Target: Up & Up brand
Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Echinacea, Saw Palmetto, Valerian Root
Walgreens: Finest Nutrition brand
Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ginseng, Garlic, Echinacea
Walmart: Spring Valley brand
Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ginseng, Garlic, Echinacea, Saw Palmetto
“Consumers all across the nation shell out millions to purchase supplements, and these retailers make up a hefty percentage of sales,” Berman said. “We believe that these companies have been duping American consumers and should take responsibility.”
