Hagens Berman Protects Consumers From Inadequate, Unfair Settlement in Texas Hyundai Suit

Attorneys from Hagens Berman and other law firms recently intervened in a Texas consumer suit against Hyundai, filing a court action that struck down an inadequate and unfair proposed settlement. Hagens Berman sits on the steering committee for the Texas Hyundai litigation.

Several attorneys from the firms involved in the litigation worked together to point out the shortcomings of earlier attorneys' work, including the absence of meaningful discovery, the limited nature of fact finding, and the excessive attorneys' fees written into the settlement.

The suit claims Hyundai overstated the horsepower rating on many of its vehicles produced since 1992. The case will now return back to court for further litigation.

Update:
In a similar case in California where Hagens Berman serves as co-lead counsel, the court recently granted preliminary approval of a settlement.
