For level-one trauma care in Seattle, adults and children are admitted to Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Department. This University of Washington hospital is the only level-one trauma center in the state. Harborview Medical Center also receives critical care patients from Idaho, Montana and Alaska, where no level-one trauma facilities exist.
Additionally, Harborview Medical is the first comprehensive stroke center in the state. As a part of its level-one designation, Harborview also provides injury prevention programs, community outreach and education.

KING COUNTY LEVEL-TWO TRAUMA CENTER LOCATIONS
Tacoma trauma care is provided through the partnership between MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center and Madigan Army Medical Center.
Each facility supports the Tacoma Trauma Center. Trauma-care duty rotates every 24 hours between St. Joseph Medical Center and Tacoma General where each hospital has a trauma surgeon on-site during its 24-hour period. In addition, Madigan Army Medical Center provides trauma services to military personnel and, as needed, to treat injured civilians.
Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital also offers care to children in Tacoma and across the state. They house a level-two pediatric trauma center. Their level-two services include a mobile critical care unit for both ground and air transport.
LEVEL THREE, FOUR, AND FIVE TRAUMA CENTERS IN WESTERN WASHINGTON
There are level-three trauma centers located in Aberdeen, Olympia and Puyallup. The region is also home to seven or more level-four and level-five trauma centers.
