Hagens Berman Announces Expanded Volkswagen Defeat Device Investigation, New Affected Vehicles

Law Firm Seeking Information from Owners of Newly Announced VW, Porsche and Audi Affected Models

SEATTLE – National consumer-rights law firm, Hagens Berman, is expanding its investigation into Volkswagen with the announcement of additional affected VW, Audi and Porsche models allegedly containing emissions-cheating defeat devices.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a second Notice of Violation to Volkswagen, this time identifying the 2014 VW Touareg, 2015 Porsche Cayenne, and 2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L and Q5 crossover with 3.0-liter diesel engines as containing illegal software that violates state and federal laws and cheats pollution tests.

Contact Hagens Berman if you own or lease any of the affected vehicles listed.

Newly announced affected vehicles include the diesel engine equipped:

  • VW Touareg (2014)
  • Porsche Cayenne (2015)
  • Audi A6 Quattro (2016)
  • Audi A7 Quattro (2016)
  • Audi A8 (2016)
  • Audi A8L (2016)
  • Audi Q5 (2016)

These newly announced models join the existing list of affected vehicles, which include Jetta CleanDiesel (model years 2009 – 2015), Jetta Sportswagen (model years 2009 – 2014), Beetle and Beetle convertible CleanDiesel (model years 2012 – 2015), Audi A3 TDI (model years 2010 – 2015), Golf CleanDiesel (model years 2010 – 2015), Golf Sportswagen CleanDiesel (model year 2015) and Passat CleanDiesel (model years 2012 – 2015).

Reports state that the automaker will be forced to recall all affected vehicles.

Hagens Berman’s legal team is investigating this fraud and harm to consumers. If you own one of the vehicles listed above, contact our legal team now.

The class-action firm has brought half a dozen lawsuits against Volkswagen for the installation of defeat devices in its vehicles, including the first filed complaint against the automaker. Hagens Berman has also brought high-profile cases against General Motors, Toyota and Kia. The firm’s managing partner, Steve Berman was appointed co-lead counsel representing Toyota owners, and in 2013 negotiated a $1.6 billion settlement on behalf of consumers who owned or leased Toyota vehicles that lost value as a result of public disclosures of quality control problems that led to a rash of cases of unintended acceleration.
